About this notice

This notice describes how the current Vakil Note iPhone and iPad app handles information, and how these privacy and support pages work. Older beta builds may have different account controls. If you have a question about your version, contact gautam@vakilnote.com.

Vakil Note helps you read, annotate and organize documents. Your local document library and your online sign-in account are separate: signing in does not automatically upload your PDFs and notes to the authentication service.

Documents & recognition

Your imported documents, notes, handwriting, annotations, project organization and recognized text are stored in the app’s library on your device. The current app does not provide automatic cloud synchronization of that library.

Text recognition runs on your device, using Apple Vision or bundled offline language resources. The app does not send page images to an online OCR service for this recognition. Scanning uses your camera only when you choose the scanning feature and grant permission.

Local storage does not protect against loss of the device, removal of the app or changes you make to your files. Export important work to a location you control.

Accounts & authentication

We use Clerk for account creation, sign-in, session checks, sign-out and supported account-deletion requests. Depending on the sign-in method, account information can include your name, email address and account identifier. A chosen sign-in provider, such as Google, also processes the information needed for that sign-in.

Clerk authentication requests include session and client identifiers and technical information such as the device’s vendor identifier, device model and type, operating-system version, app version and bundle identifier. Clerk retains account-linked authentication sessions, including the browser or device, sign-in activity, IP address and an approximate city and country inferred from that IP address. This is not GPS location. This information supports account access, session management and security.

The app configures Clerk’s optional SDK telemetry as disabled. Authentication network requests and their technical metadata still occur. We have not integrated an advertising SDK into the current iOS app.

Authentication data is processed by Clerk under its service arrangements; processing and retention depend on the configured service and applicable obligations. We do not promise a particular storage region or a fixed deletion deadline here. For information about how Clerk processes customer data, see its data processing terms. Contact us for questions about your account data.

Sharing, websites & backups

When you export or share a document or project, you choose its destination through the system’s sharing tools. The receiving app, person or storage provider then handles that copy under its own practices. Removing a copy from Vakil Note does not remove copies you have already shared.

If you import a webpage or open a website link, the requested website receives the connection. Authentication pages, external links and selected storage providers may use their own cookies or other technologies.

Your device and any backup or Files provider you use may back up or store app documents according to your settings and that provider’s practices. “Stored on your device” is not a promise that operating-system backups are disabled.

These information pages contain no analytics scripts, external fonts or advertising integrations. The website’s hosting service still handles requests needed to deliver the pages, including connection information.

Support & feedback

If you email support or use the app’s feedback feature, your email address, subject and message reach the support mailbox. In-app feedback opens for your review before you send it; the app does not attach your projects automatically.

Include only the information needed to explain the issue. Please remove private document content from screenshots or examples before sharing them. Support correspondence is used to handle your request; contact us if you want to ask about access, retention or deletion of a message you sent.

Deletion & recovery copies

An account and a recovery copy are different. Deleting your sign-in account does not erase copies you exported, shared or deliberately retained for recovery.

Where available in your installed version, open Account → Delete account to begin. The app explains the consequences, prepares local recovery for your documents and asks for a separate confirmation before requesting account deletion. Older beta versions may not have this control; email gautam@vakilnote.com to request help with account deletion.

A local recovery copy may remain after confirmed account deletion so that your work is not lost with your sign-in. Versions with this recovery flow provide an export option after deletion. Export the recovered documents to a location you control before uninstalling the app. If recovery cannot finish, follow the app’s export message and contact support.

These retained local documents are separate from account records held by the authentication service. If you want to remove local or recovered files too, ask support for instructions for your installed version. Uninstalling removes local app data but does not remove copies in other apps, backups or storage services.

Your choices & contact

You can control camera permission in device settings, choose what to import or share, export your work, and request assistance with account information or deletion.

For privacy questions, account-data requests or a correction to this notice, email gautam@vakilnote.com. We may need to verify that a request relates to your account before acting on it. Never send your password or authentication code.

We will update this page when the app’s handling of information changes. The date above identifies the latest revision.
